My heart breaks for any woman who struggles to accept and love the body God created her to thrive in. I was one of these women. I lived in comparison, insecurity, self-hatred, envy, control, obsession, guilt and shame. My journey to freedom began with redefining my self-worth and focusing on creating a healthy body instead of the perfect body.

Perfection is truly the lowest standard you can hold yourself to - because it's impossible to achieve. Progress, not perfection is how I live my life and I encourage my clients to do the same. I shoot straight, so if you are looking for another how-to diet or program to "do it" for you, this isn't it. Your freedom will require you to stop making excuses, redefine your past and take back your power.  I know, because I had to walk this path myself.

My support is not for someone who is on the high of a diet that is “working” for them. Nope, this is for the person who can’t seem to find the right fit. You see your friends getting success doing intermittent fasting, and another friend who is rocking the paleo lifestyle and yet another who is counting macros. They all seem to be getting results (and you are not) and the temptation is high, but there is a voice inside of you whispering, “that isn’t the answer.”

The voice is coming from experience. It’s coming from the nostalgic and notorious high of starting a new diet, the elation of losing the first few pounds and then the devastating disappointment when your willpower fails and once again old patterns take over and the weight comes back. The voice speaks from the thousands and thousands of dollars you have wasted on short-lived attempts to an issue that is longstanding and deep-seeded and needs a lifelong solution. It speaks to the place inside of you that feels this whole body image and weight thing shouldn’t have to be so hard, so grueling, so isolating, so disappointing and so all-consuming.

You are right. The voice, that is. It doesn’t have to be this torturous to be healthy and comfortable in your own skin.

Deep within us ladies, there is truth. But that truth gets covered up with lies and deception. Confusion sets in when we feel the tension between the unfamiliar and uncomfortable path of freedom and the familiar, beaten down path of a diet.

I remember thinking when I was in my mid-twenties and deep in my crazy - hiding an eating disorder, excessively exercising and obsessively calorie counting - that there had to be more to life than an endless pursuit of perfection. There had to be more to my self-worth than the number the scale spits out. There had to be more to life than trying to gain control, love and acceptance through smaller thighs and a flatter stomach. THERE JUST HAD TO BE.

And I was right, there is more to life.

But to be honest, I was caught in the cycle I just explained for years. I wanted out, but I didn’t think there was a way out. I mean, how do you just release all of the control you have wrapped up in counting, controlling, scrutinizing, judging, comparing, exercising, etc.? To be honest, I didn’t even know what I would do with myself if I didn’t exist every day to try to make myself look better. I couldn’t imagine pursuing another path to be lovable, worthy, happy and accepted.

But then I reached a tipping point where I was so beat up from doing the same things over and over again that I surrendered something inside of myself. I surrendered that piece of me that believed I had to manipulate, hate or control food and my body in order to get results. I surrendered the belief that the physical results were the pathway to my peace, self-acceptance and the love I was starving for. I believe this surrender signified coming to the end of myself. And only when we are at the end of ourselves, will we be open to see a new option, a new path and a new way to trust.

The journey to the healthy you, the true you - is all of this - the breaking off of the old and foraging a new way with God at the center of your journey to heal and transform you from the inside-out. My dear friend introduced me to  Amber  and “The Healthy Edge” years ago. I had a phone consultation with Amber eight weeks ago and I’m so glad that she moved me to really commit to this process. After eight weeks with her I feel I have had more healing than 25 years of counseling! You are truly amazing Amber Thiel, thank you so much for all that you do! Thank you for walking me step-by-step through my pain and helping me recognize it and helping God heal it💜  I’m looking forward to continuing my journey!

"The Healthy Edge Lifestyle is so simple - and believe me I have been on every "diet" that has come around in my 62 years. It is going on 6 months since I started Healthy Edge and I have lost 20 pounds without ever feeling deprived of anything I wanted. I am healthy, I feel great, my family has benefited from the healthy eating and they love every dish I make."
